Steve D: More difficult to use. You keep worsening the app, making it harder to navigate and needing endless button pushing for basic functions like stopping audio. The app has not improved despite the volume of negative feedback. I've also noticed a disparaging tone when you disagree with the views of a subject. The adverts in such a pricey publication / app are an imposition. Though I've been a reader since 1967, when my current subscription expires I will not be renewing.

Steve Kraus: I have been an Economist subscriber for years. Now I read everything on line rather than the paper issues. I really like the audio edituons. I was able to make a play list of articles from different issues with the old App. I would listen to the articles while exercising or driving. Now I can't do that. But I download the audio edition and unzip selected articles MP3 files to a folder to play using the PowerAmp app.

M. Arzaghi: I halve been a subscriber for the past ten years. In the new app, it is quit difficult to select audio contents. In the previous version, I was able to select a section of the magazine like "science section" and listen to the entire section This option is not available anymore. So, I still use the old version when I want to listen to a group of articles. They need to fix this issue.

Andrew Hicks: Easy to use and well organized with no obvious bugs, great way to access the same content from the newspaper and website. The app sends an inordinate number of notifications - I don't need a notification for every single article. I'm sure I could turn this off or edit the settings, but I can't really be bothered so I'll just complain here :)

Jeremiah Beaty: An Economist subscription is very worth the price. The depth and breadth of coverage is enough to please most anyone. The app makes reading articles a breeze and even gives the option to play audio, and to speed up or slow down the audio, which is great. when I do listen, I listen at 1.5x speed. I can't recommend this enough and I have been reading the Economist for over five and a half years.

Neil Abrahams: You can browse, download, and stream editions. It has a good search engine. It remembers what you've listened to or read, it's updated daily, and if you're in audio mode it'll play the next article without your having to intervene. It loads fairly quickly. Crashes are rare non-existent for me. Aside from a browser app it's probably my favorite one. Only thing I do not care for is that the Android version does not rotate screen when that would be helpful.

Arnaud Desmarchelier: The downloading process of each issue is absolutely terrible. It should be automatic. It is not. The pictures within each story are downloaded only if you are connected while reading. Too bad if you are on the go. In addition opening the app is soooo slow. This obviously is unrelated to the content which is as great as usual. Edited after 2 months. download and storage of this application is really terrible. No way to store editions on a SD card. Edition size is huge. 4gB+ on internal storage.

Gerry Gibbs: Much prefer the legacy version. This one doesn't let me press and hold a word to quickly look up a word definition. It doesn't remember from one session to the next where I left off reading in a weekly edition. The font size is too big in the larger default and too small in the smaller option. The range of font sizes in the legacy let's me get it just right. Plus, I've no interest in the audio files. I can read the stories far faster. Audio wastes my time. I went back to the legacy.

Michal W.: Hands down among the best current affairs news sources which is the only reason I continue to use this app. It is, has been, and continues to be among the worst functioning apps I have used and still choose to use. The fact I still bother with the app is a credit to how good of a product they put out. The app still inexplicably crashes and cannot recall where you left off with the audio (either starting with "Politics this Week" or some previously listened to article upon your return to the app) whether you downloaded the audio or not. Since it does not function, I cannot justify downloading the audio anyway. I was about to go for a walk with the dog when the app simply continues to refuse to load "Conspiracy as a second language" which spurred me to finally write a review. You never know while driving or walking when you will have to do battle with the app to reload it or get it on the right edition or right article. I have tried both versions of the app (the fact there are multiple versions is likely not a great sign) and know it has similar issues whether it is on Android of Apple devices. I have made certain the edition is current and reinstalled the application. With all that said, I love the magazine and the reporting. I will continue to subscribe, and I will continue to try using the app. I understand this sentiment makes the app's repair less likely, but c'est la vie.

Namrata Sampat: I'm not sure why the old app was replaced. As a subscriber, I struggle with crunching through the overwhelming amount of content. One of my most productive ways is to listen to the audio while multitasking with mundane activities. The audio interface in the new app is seriously lacking. There is no queue or playlist function. You cannot do a quick scroll and add articles to your playlist like you could in the old app. I would also like a sleep timer feature. Please improve these audio features.
